After 2 full days of following and streaming Aljazeera, CNN, NHK, YokosoNews, I find it tragic and almost ridiculous that Japan was hit with a Mother Nature combo. Earthquake --> tsunami --> meltdown. I do think Prime Minister Naoto Kan and entirety of Japan did a great job responding quickly considering the hand they were dealt. Preparedness is key and I keep hearing Japan's government and infrastructure was so I hope all nations (including the US) can also make and implement emergency disaster plans.

I also found it eery and depressing watching all the devastating footages of the tsunami washing all the debris inland and engulfing farmland, homes, and cars. It just demonstrates how everything we have built can be instantaneously destroyed in matters of hours.

I just heard that most Japanese people are going back to work tomorrow and find the human spirit to be amazing.

Hoping people will donate $10 to Japan through the Red Cross or any other verified organization.

Lastly, I pray and hope that everyone can make it home, that those who need food and water can acquire it,  everyone is safe, missing people are found, and that the rebuilding happens quickly.

so it seems to me-- we cannot change our insecurities and that is what affects us from changing our environment. so you wanna summon up courage to say a mere "hello"? you wanna move on? wanna shut up that voice in your head that says you need that someone? i think what it boils down to is how well do you know what you're doing, what it is you want, what it is you can take, and if we are willing to let what is going on continue. like i told my friend tonight, oh we're in control.. even if it is passively so. it's all about your limits. when is it enough for you to take the yelling, how long can you bear the scolding, and how long can you bear the stress?

i wish certain people knew what they deserved and shouldn't take the B.S. anymore. why do YOU let someone else have a say in your life that much? and when do you realize you've sacrificed too much? hmm-- it scares me how some people in relationships are. oh love is blinding... but i don't think you're always seeing roses, i think sometimes, you just can't see anything... and once you realize you can see again... you can't even recognize your own reflection.

I hear security is ridiculous when it comes to cameras but if my cell phone does its job, maybe I'll post of fuzzy shapes that should be Wheesung ^_^

Greetings! I haven't blogged in so long... cause I keep forgetting my thoughts. It's been a month BUT the Hollywood Bowl was AMAZING! Like I predicted -- best day of my life-- Ever!! Haha. I think they did a good job in trying to entertain everyone of all ages and keep the whole Korean-cultured Festival spirit. Cause I love my Kpop idols as much as the next fangirl, but it is a festival that only occurs once a year, so I assume it's huge for the Korean community in the West Coast, as well as the US.

Our next Kadventure leads us to the Walt Disney Hall on the 19th! Keke. We're going to see Wheesung & Lena Park (who is amazing live)! I'm super excited since I want to do more things this summer and be adventurous to balance out the boredom that is my life during the semesters.

Thought that's been floating in my head recently is how I wish people wouldn't get caught up so much in what's "cool" and what's "nerdy." It's a shame because I used to think the stuff I'm in love with now was super nerdy. Now-- I feel it's sort of a blessing. I know I definitely shouldn't be one to say this-- but-- I feel people shove themselves in boxes afraid to go outside and explore.

I for one-- should probably socialize-- with people in the real world rather than in the youtube videos lol. I'm not saying to go do something you don't want to-- but maybe try something you normally would just dismiss as "weird" or "gay." Who knows? Maybe when I hit 21 later this year I'll go explore the bar & club scene-- see what it's like at least. Then determine if it is or isn't for me. I think this whole kpop thing is my best example.. if I hadn't looked into it.. would've never found this amazing community of asian fandomness lol.

I don't think anyone reads this BUT as a plug, please visit my friend [click--> lovesonatas
<--click] at her LJ. She's just starting to write fanfics and I love love LOOVE them! (keke, I also did her layout so lemme know if you want something, it being summer and all maybe I can whip something together) Anywho-- her stories are awesome and well-written (honestly, her vocabulary astounds me hehe). Please give her love!

"Time is priceless, yet it costs us nothing. You can do anything you want with it, yet you can't own it. You can spend it, but you can't keep it. And once you've lost it, there's no getting it back -- it's just gone."

-Quote from Medium (NBC TV Show)

What a distraction!! But I am soooo stoked!!! SS501 is coming to the Hollywood Bowl!! Watch out Lover! Me and all the ahjummas and fangirls will not hold back when we see our Jihoo-sunbae on stage. Therefore, let us all commence in happiness! So much for diligently working on organic chemistry eh?

Note: For any of those, (I don't know if there are any...) of you who are interested in the Invisible Children [+] The Rescue, more information was released today.

The quick low-down is: We are abducting ourselves in representation of the thousands of children abducted by Joseph Kony in order to serve as his children soldiers. Therefore on April 25th, you'll meet up at the site nearest to your location (given on the website) and walk about 3ish miles to your "LRA Camp" (which is synonymous to where Joseph Kony holds the children soldiers.) We will be spending the night there working on letters & various other projects trying to make sure our politicians and media recognize our effort & our purpose. Therefore leading up to the event, we will be wearing Invisible Children shirts for all of April. Since April is soon, I recommend you buy your shirts soon!

I hope as many people attend for this good cause. Although peace may not happen instantaneously after the event, it's good that people are aware. This is movement has been mostly fueled by the younger generation, and I have to say... I'm quite proud. All of our hearts may not be pure of mind, but in a time where materialism is profound it's good for them to be exposed to this. Like our parents who protested in the 70s for peace, we are fighting for others as well.

Something New Learned: My lab partner shared with me something I thought was interesting today. She's making a persuasive speech on how we should not support non-profit organizations. At first, I know it comes off as a little heartless, but her reasons make sense. For example,
  • when we support HIV foundations, some of the money goes to finding a cure, and the rest will go to helping raise the children already carrying HIV; therefore, those children will grow up, reproduce, and most likely pass on HIV to their children and so forth. this will contribute to our over-population, increased amount of HIV carriers
  • this was also pointed out about helping impoverished children. we send them money, they live longer, have kids born into poverty
Although these reasons make sense and although we're selecting these HIV carriers to continue having children possibly holding those genotypes, we're human. Natural selection and survival of the fittest... doesn't include us. We are always artificial selecting everything as it is. What's natural about cloning? stem cell research? I mean, we are animals. But since we were given the capability to reason, turning our back on fellow mankind because they're sick and "not fit" to survive -- doesn't make sense.

*sigh* To believe in such a thing -- fate. Chinese has a legend called,
"紅線" about a red string of fate connecting two people (lovers).

"An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet,
regardless of time, place, or circumstance.
The thread may stretch or tangle,
but it will never break."
- 'Red string of fate' from wikipedia

"regardless of time, place, or circumstance" -- then if this legend is true, for as long as i live, i hope the person at the end of my thread never leaves me. to not be alone in the world-- to be connected to someone at all times-- isn't this what we want most in the world?
